Jonathan Cohen is a translator of Spanish American poets. He has translated Ernesto Cardenal (including With Walker in Nicaragua and Other Early Poems, 1985; and From Nicaragua, With Love, 1987), Enrique Lihn (The Dark Room and Other Poems, 1978), Roque Dalton (Small Hours of the Night, 1996), and Pedro Mir (Countersong to Walt Whitman, 2006); and has received the Robert Payne Award, an NEA translation fellowship, and ALTA’s Outstanding Translation-of-the-Year Award.
