Dioceses across the country are turning up efforts to reach Latinos, according to an official with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. In addition to adding Spanish Masses and hiring more Spanish-speaking priests, Catholic leaders are now using social media. Spanish language websites, blogs, Facebook pages and radio stations are popping up at dioceses nationwide to promote the faith.
The bishops’ group recently started a Spanish website and a blog. “Traffic has increased threefold since June,” said Alejandro Aguilera-Titus, director for Hispanic Affairs for the USCCB. “We have been promoting it on Spanish radio.”
